APS-5 (CAS No. 193884-53-6) is used as a chemiluminescent substrate. It provides superior sensitivity and usability for alkaline phosphatase conjugations during ELISA detection. The reaction involves acridan (9,10-dihydroacridine) as a substrate and alkaline phosphatase labeling to produce sustained high-intensity chemiluminescence. Now, APS-5 has been used as a luminescent probe in gene chip studies, and its application in homogeneous alkaline phosphatase assays has shown ultra-high sensitivity, (detecting alkaline phosphatase at less than 10-19 mol), with rapid peaking to reduce detection time and increase throughput.

Also, APS-5 can be used as an IVD (In vitro diagnostics) reagent.
